Monthly Archives: December 2015

i just finished reading orphan train. i got the books weeks ago, but because of its title, i kept postponing reading it. i was afraid it would be a heartbreaking story.

it’s a fiction but based on a true history. in the 1920s, orphan children were taken by train to midwest and given to some families who wanted them. but it’s the matter of fate. some found loving family and some ended up being a house slave.

My friends on the mainland think just because I live in Hawaii, I live in paradise. Like a permanent vacation. We’re all just out here sipping Mai Tais, shaking our hips, and catching waves. Are they insane?

The Descendants

when i lived in bali. some people think like this too.

i stopped reading books a while. i abandoned my blog.

but now i’m back!

after reading this blog, i knew i want to lay my hand on the girl in the spider’s web. and it’s the kind of book you can’t put down. you just want to keep reading it. and the feeling of stieg larsson writing it is still there.

the next book i read is a spool of blue thread. this is also not bad at all. shortlisted for the man booker prize. i think i read one of the book from anne tyler before. but i don’t remember which one (she’s more than 70 years old and wrote 20 novels!)
